Sam Rosensohn founded College Planning Partnerships (CPP) in 2003, a test prep company renowned for its exceptional results in helping students excel on standardized exams. Over the past 20 years, Sam has continually refined CPP’s offerings by drawing inspiration from the students he works with, leading to innovations like the SAT/ACT Diagnostic, Math Reality Checks, and the launch of All Girls’ Prep in 2024.
Sam is a nationally recognized educator whose contributions to the field of education have earned accolades from the U.S. Congress, the Connecticut State Legislature, and statewide teacher organizations. Harvard University invited Sam to participate in its research project, The College Access Collaborative, and Yale University’s School of Management selected CPP for a graduate study project after a nationwide search. He is also a recipient of the prestigious James Madison Fellowship, awarded annually by Congress to one Connecticut teacher.
Sam’s influence extends beyond test prep. The Connecticut State Department of Education enlisted his expertise to help establish standards for the statewide CAPT test, and he has participated in national educational initiatives, including the Gilder Lehrman Summer Seminar at Brown University and the Amistad American Fellowship in partnership with Yale University. His commitment to education and social justice was recognized with the Connecticut Education Association Presidential Award for Human and Civil Rights for leading a student-driven effort that freed over 25 slaves in Sudan.
Sam’s leadership and his students’ advocacy have influenced significant legislative and social change, from the creation of 16 bills addressing student violence to contributions to the landmark Sheff vs. O’Neill desegregation case. His work has been acknowledged by figures like President Bill Clinton and Senator Christopher Dodd.
In addition to his teaching achievements, Sam is an accomplished writer, having created educational materials for The New York Times Learning Network, Prentice Hall, Peregrine Publishers, and The Hartford Courant. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University. His career spans roles as a journalist for The New York Post, a teacher at John Winthrop Jr. High in Deep River, the executive editor of five Shoreline Newspapers, and the academic director of an educational program founded by Paul Newman.
When not helping students achieve their academic goals or innovating test prep strategies, Sam can be found on his road bike. In 2024, he won the Connecticut State Cycling Championship for his age group, a testament to his passion for fitness and dedication to excellence in all aspects of life.
