Course Objectives
Over this two-week course, students will cover:
- The content tested on the Math sections, starting with the topics that make up the highest proportion of test questions.
- Reading strategies to aid in comprehension, retention, and pacing.
- All required grammar content and question types that appear on the Writing and Language section.
Course Materials
Students will receive two books by mail that they will use throughout this course. If you have registered and have not received your books by four days prior to course, please contact us directly at (860) 664-9857.
-
The White Book
This is our proprietary SAT Manual, created by the tutors at College Planning Partnerships, based on years of released SAT tests and questions. The math content in this book is organized by topic, so students will use it during all of their math classes as they move through different content areas each week.
-
The Big Blue Book
This is the College Board’s official SAT Study Guide. It contains 8 full-length practice tests. In the math classes instructors will save these tests for individual practice in the homework. Students will not need this book during math classes, except perhaps during homework review.

Expectations for Participation
Students’ success in this course will heavily depend on their participation and engagement with the material, both during and outside of class
1. Attendance
Students should use their real name (first and last) on Zoom and Desmos so that the instructor can track attendance accurately. Students will be asked to “sign in” at the beginning of each class.
If a student can’t make it to any of the sections for a given week, they can view the lesson recording in their profile.
2. Group Instruction
This course aims to keep whole-group instruction short — students should use this time to follow along in their books, take notes, and ask questions. Students will need to have their Zoom window open to follow along with the instructor’s work on-screen.
3. Breakout Rooms
After the instructor models problems on a given topic, students will be given 10-20 minutes in small groups to work through a selection of practice problems or group activity. Students should have their book open to the problems shown on-screen and write out their work as they progress through the Desmos slides.
This practice time is where the learning really happens. Students are highly encouraged to work together when they get stuck. The instructor will be circulating between breakout rooms to answer questions; students can also drop questions in the Zoom chat.
4. Homework
Students will be assigned homework after each class (usually around 30-60 minutes of work). While students aren’t receiving a grade, there is no better indicator of how they are progressing in the course and how they can expect to do on the test than the work they do on their own.
All homework assignments are linked in the student profile. Students should complete as much as they can each day after each lesson and make note of any questions they may want to review. Each evening Monday through Wednesday a homework review session will be hosted by the students’ instructor from 7-8PM EST. Students will have the opportunity to send questions to the instructor privately in the Zoom chat to ensure that all questions are addressed.
